Police have identified the driver in Sunday night’s critical injury collision in downtown Salt Lake City, but are holding off on a formal arrest until they know whether the victim survives.
Salt Lake City police Sgt. Brandon Shearer said Monday a 21-year-old woman was still fighting for her life in the hospital after being struck in a crosswalk about 11:30 p.m. Sunday by a southbound SUV at 200 South and State Street.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, sustained critical head injuries. A 31-year-old female companion walking with her was treated at the hospital for minor injuries related to the crash.
